Radio War, known to his friends as Greg Handlon, is a multifaceted producer, artist, and engineer from the Detroit area. Growing up as a skater in Michigan, Greg was exposed to a cross section of music and culture inspired by an underground, DIY attitude. After several years in California skating with friends in the near perfect climate, Greg returned to sunny Michigan and began turning a closer ear to Detroit’s powerful and unmistakeably original electro scene. It was here, inspired by the no non-sense approach to analog synthesis and powerful rhythms, that Greg began to delve into music production with more than a passing interest. Collecting classic synthesizers from manufacturers like Sequential Circuits and Roland, Greg began crafting the dark, eerie, and forward thinking electro that he would become known for.
Collaborating with other like minded producers, Greg nurtured a desire to expand his horizons and bring his ideas to bear on a broader scope of music. In 2005 he began working as an engineer and in-house producer at M3 studios. Here he furthered his production skills, recording and producing for underground and established acts in Detroit’s hip hop scene, and working as an engineer for the numerous bands that pass through M3′s doors.
While Greg’s skills and classic cuts are well known to his friends and fellow musicians, his drive for perfection has kept his music very close to the chest. Luckily Detroit label Original Family intends to change this in the coming years!
